How the Instagram Audit Works

Paste any public Instagram username. We fetch up to 24 recent posts server-side (no login), compute engagement, cadence, content mix, captions, and stability, then generate a 0–100 Quality Score with charts and personalized tips.

Step 1

Step 1

Audit Features

A clean, privacy-first analyzer that prioritizes actionability: understand “why” your content performs—and what to try next.

Quality Score

Quality Score & Breakdown

A 0–100 composite that weighs median ER, posting cadence, content balance (Photos/Reels/Carousels), caption coverage and stability.

Charts

Charts that Matter

ER trend over time, posting gap consistency, caption usage and a best posting window summary.

Suggestions

Personalized Suggestions

Timing, format mix, captions, cadence, engagement and stability—tailored to your last sample of posts.

Best format

Best Performing Content Format

We compare median engagement for Photos, Videos/Reels, and Carousels to reveal which format truly works best for your audience.

Shadowban risk

Reach & Shadowban Risk

We highlight patterns often associated with an Instagram shadowban or reach drop—like sudden median ER crashes and repeated underperforming posts.

Privacy

Anonymous by Design

Score explainer

What is the Quality Score?

A composite rating that rewards consistent median engagement, steady cadence (2–5 posts/week), a balanced content mix, solid caption usage and low volatility. Outliers (one viral post) don’t overly skew the final score.

What we measure

What we measure

  • Engagement: median((likes + comments) / followers) across your sample
  • Consistency: posts/week, longest gap, posting interval variance
  • Content mix: share and relative lift for Photos, Reels, Carousels
  • Best performing format: which of Photos, Videos/Reels, or Carousels outperforms your own baseline.
  • Captions: usage rate, typical length, hook/CTA heuristics
  • Stability: performance volatility, spikes/drops
  • Audience activation: how active your followers are versus typical accounts of a similar size (ghost-follower risk).
  • Reach & shadowban risk: suspicious patterns such as sudden engagement drops, unusually weak median ER, or unstable performance over recent posts.

Inside the Instagram Profile Analyzer

Our Instagram analyzer focuses on signal, not noise: medians over averages, cadence over sporadic bursts, and repeatable hooks over lucky virality. The outcome is a practical set of experiments you can run next week: adjust timing, rebalance formats, refine caption hooks, and control volatility through steadier posting windows.

For each profile, we surface a best posting window (weekday × hour) derived from recency, plus a format mix snapshot (Photos, Reels, Carousels) and caption coverage metrics. The suggestions then translate those findings into concrete tests—think “2 carousels with stronger first-slide hooks” or “3 short reels with first-second motion.”

Why median ER matters

Averages get distorted by one viral post. By using medians across your recent sample, your baseline engagement is more trustworthy. As you iterate, track changes in median ER over 5–10 posts to confirm real improvement.

Cadence beats randomness

Steady posting (2–5 posts/week) reduces variance and helps the algorithm learn your audience patterns. Combine cadence with the top 2–3 timing windows to lift early interactions (comments, saves) and overall reach.

Ghost followers & audience activation

Follower count alone doesn’t tell you how healthy an account is. The audit compares your median engagement rate to typical bands for similar-sized profiles and surfaces an audience activation score. If engagement is far below the norm, it often means a high share of ghost or low-quality followers. We highlight this without calling individual followers “fake”.

Winning content formats for your niche

Instead of generic advice like “post more Reels”, the analyzer measures how Photos, Videos/Reels, and Carousels perform for this specific profile. If Carousels outperform your overall median ER by 30%, we say so directly. That way you know whether to double down on Reels, carousels, or static posts for your actual audience.

Instagram shadowban checks, the honest way

There is no official “Instagram shadowban checker”, but we can still flag risk. The audit looks for signs that often feel like a shadowban: sharp engagement drops, weaker median ER on recent posts, and unstable performance. Your reach risk score is an external estimate only—we never access private data or hidden moderation signals.

Why use this Instagram Audit?

  • Discover real best posting times from your actual history
  • See which formats outperform for your audience (Carousels vs Reels vs Photos)
  • Spot caption gaps and get quick wins for comments & saves
  • Benchmark fairly with medians, not just viral outliers
  • Export a clean PDF to share with clients or teammates

How to improve your score

  • Post during your top 2–3 time windows each week.
  • Double down on formats with positive deltas (e.g., Carousels +15%).
  • Use a caption with a clear CTA or question; front-load the hook in the first line.
  • Keep a steady cadence (2–5 posts/week) and avoid long gaps.
  • Rotate hashtags; avoid repeating low-performers too often.

Instagram Profile Audit – FAQ

Do private profiles work?

No. The Instagram Profile Analyzer only works with public accounts. If a profile is private (or recently switched to private), we can’t fetch posts, engagement or captions to build your audit.

How many posts are analyzed?

We analyze up to the latest ~24 public posts for that username. That’s enough to measure engagement rate, posting gaps, caption habits, and content mix (Reels vs photos vs carousels) without timing out.

Is this safe? Do I need to log in?

No login is required. The Instagram audit tool looks at public data and computes metrics like Engagement Rate and Consistency Score on our server. Your IP never talks to Instagram directly during the audit.

How do you calculate Engagement Rate?

We take (likes + comments) ÷ followers for each post in your sample, then use the median instead of the average. Median ER hides one-off viral spikes and shows your “typical” performance.

What is the Quality Score?

Your Quality Score (0–100) blends five sub-scores: Engagement, Consistency, Content Mix, Captions, and Stability. It’s meant to answer: “Is this account behaving like a healthy, growing creator profile?”

Why does Consistency matter?

We measure gaps between posts and look for huge dead zones. Irregular posting kills reach because Instagram stops testing your content on fresh audiences. Stable cadence is a big part of growth.

Can I see which format works best (Reels vs Carousels vs Photos)?

Yes. The audit compares median engagement for Photos, Videos/Reels, and Carousels and shows which format performs best for that profile. It also tells you how much that format outperforms (or underperforms) your overall median engagement, so you know where to focus.

Can this check if my Instagram account is shadowbanned?

There is no public switch that says “shadowbanned” or “not shadowbanned.” However, the audit does estimate reach and shadowban risk based on public signals: sudden engagement drops, weaker median ER on recent posts, and unstable performance over time. It is an external Instagram shadowban check, not an official verdict.

Can I download the full report as PDF?

Yes. You can export the Instagram profile audit as a PDF, including your Quality Score, KPIs, engagement charts, best posting time summary, and personalized suggestions. This is free.

Why do you care about captions?

We check how often you actually write captions and how long they are. Low caption usage usually means weak call-to-action and shallow watch time. Both hurt conversion and reach.

Does this prove an account is fake or botted?

No. The Profile Analyzer is not a bot detector. But sudden follower jumps + low ER + unstable posting can look suspicious. We surface patterns so you can judge credibility yourself.

Can this help identify ghost followers?

The Instagram Profile Analyzer is not a precise bot detector, but it does estimate audience activation. If median engagement is much lower than typical for accounts of a similar size, it usually means a large share of ghost or low-quality followers. We surface that as “low activation” so you can judge the audience quality yourself.

Will this affect the Instagram account I’m auditing?

No. We never log in as that account, never leave “seen” views, and never attempt to post or follow. We only read public data through our own infrastructure, then generate your audit report for you.
