The complete guide to downloading Instagram media
This guide explains which URLs are supported, how to get the best quality, and what to do when a link fails. All features work with public profiles only.
How to use InstaIncognito — Instagram Downloader
Step 1- Open the Instagram app or website and (if needed) log in.
Step 2- Find the post link (Photo, Video, Reels, Story, Profile) you want and copy its link (Share → Copy link).
Step 3- Press "Search" and wait a moment while we grab the available media (image/video).
Step 4- Choose the photo or video you want and save it to your device. Done—open the downloaded file and enjoy!
Which Instagram links are supported?
/reel/{id}- Public Reels (video). Audio is included in the MP4 download when available.
/p/{id}- Feed posts: single image/video or carousel (pick individual items in results).
/stories/{username}/{id}- Public Stories (image or video) while still available.
/highlights/{id}- Public Highlights (we list each story inside the highlight).
Pro tips for best quality
- Use the exact post/reel URL, not the profile URL.
- Open the post in Instagram and copy the link from the share menu to avoid shortened or tracking links.
- For carousels, paste the main link – we will show each slide separately (image/video).
- If multiple qualities exist, choose the largest resolution shown in the results.
Troubleshooting: why a download might fail
Most issues are due to privacy or unsupported formats. Try these steps:
- Make sure the profile/post is public.
-
Verify the link path looks like
https://www.instagram.com/reel/…or/p/…. - If content was deleted or age-restricted, it can’t be fetched.
- Wait a minute and retry if you see a temporary rate-limit message.
Why use InstaIncognito — Instagram Downloader
InstaIncognito is a fast, privacy-first Instagram downloader that saves public Reels, Posts, Stories and Highlights as MP4 or JPEG—no login required. It’s built for creators, researchers and everyday users, available in 13 languages, and designed to respect Instagram™ policies and copyrights.
What it can download
Direct, watermark-free downloads for public Instagram reels, posts, stories, and highlights. Carousels are supported so you can choose and download every image or video in the set.
Quality, formats & privacy
For best results, copy the URL from Instagram’s Share menu (avoid shorteners). If multiple qualities exist, we show the highest that the CDN exposes. Videos download as MP4; images as JPEG/PNG. We never ask for your Instagram password, and we do not permanently store media—downloads point directly to Instagram’s servers.
Limits & responsible use
Private, deleted or age-restricted posts cannot be saved. If a
link appears “unsupported”, ensure it looks like
/reel/… or /p/…. Only
download media you have rights to use and credit the creator when
sharing. For takedown requests, please contact us via
the
contact page. You can also try our
Instagram Profile Viewer
and
Highlights Viewer.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to log in?
No. You can paste a public Instagram link and download without an account.
Can I download from private accounts?
No. Private, deleted, or age-restricted items are not available.
Where are files stored?
On your device. We do not permanently store or re-host media; links resolve to Instagram’s servers.
Why does a Reel download without audio?
Some music-licensed Reels restrict audio from being served to third-party tools. If Instagram’s CDN doesn’t expose the audio track, we can’t include it.
Is it safe?
Yes. We fetch publicly accessible URLs over HTTPS and never ask for your Instagram password.
Is there a watermark?
No—downloads come directly from Instagram’s CDN.
Do download links expire?
Yes. If a saved link stops working later, re-fetch it here to get a fresh URL.
Why is quality lower than expected?
Instagram often serves compressed variants. We return the highest quality available for that post.
Where do files save on iPhone/Android?
On iPhone, use the share menu → “Save Video/Save Image” or check Files → Downloads. On Android, check the browser’s Downloads folder.
